Brad Adams is delighted to confirm that he has been elected as Chair of the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC) for one year.
“I am honoured to have the support of WAFIC’s membership” said Mr Adams, who was elected to the Chair unopposed.
Mr Adams, who is a third generation fisherman from Augusta, has practical experience across a broad range of sectors including abalone, shark, demersal scalefish, processing, wholesale and retail.
Mr Adams said that he intends for WAFIC to focus on strengthening its links with the commercial fishing, pearling and aquaculture industry in regional areas, as well as building community support for industry.
Mr Adams also congratulated three new directors who were elected to the board; Clayton Nelson, a scallop fisherman from Fremantle and Kym Coffey from Paspaley Pearling Company, who will each serve on the board for a three year term; and Bruce Cockman, a rocklobster, shark and scalefish fisherman from Dongara, who will serve on the board for a one year term.
“There were a number of industry nominations for board director positions and I was very impressed with the quality and calibre of the candidates,” Brad Adams said.
“They reflect the breadth and professionalism of our industry and are to be commended,” he said.
